  • Places are subject to availability
  • Ages 15, 16 and 17 only
  • Level needed is level B1
  • Summer 2019 dates :
  • a) July 4 to 18       b) July 18 to August 1         c) August 1 to August 15

During the first week of the course the students will complete a one-week Residential English course with Manor Courses Ltd at Hurst College, near Brighton.  The group will be taught at the college by the same teacher who will then accompany them on the “on the road” part of the course in the second week.

During the second “on the road” part of their course students can practice their English while learning more about the country and culture of the language they are studying. Through culture it is easier to understand what makes a language function as it does, what makes it “tick” and seeing something with your own eyes gives you an appetite for wanting to learn more about it.

This alternative study week is designed to explore a wide range of topics and vocabulary- from sport, to art, to history, literature and science. There is a different theme with a different attraction every day. There is no formal classroom environment. This is a fluid, spontaneous course which takes advantage of the resources London and the UK have to offer and the emphasis is on communication and the real world.

In the morning: Students will meet for breakfast (with the teacher) to discuss the theme of what they are going to see. They will be given study packs, vocabulary work and all the guidance and information they need to achieve their full potential.

In the afternoon: They will be accompanied to the attraction; they will spend time on various learning activities; there will also be time for more general sight-seeing, food and shopping during the course of the day.

In the evening: There will be time with the teacher to debate what they have seen and done, exchange opinions and impressions and at the same time make long-lasting new friendships before deciding how to spend the evenings. A variety of activities will be available.

Accommodation will be in a hotel. Each double/ triple room will have a bathroom, WI-Fi, TV, tea and coffee-making facilities and easy access to restaurants, shops and other services. Breakfast is included in the price as is transport in London and admission to all the attractions as stated in the itinerary. Lunch and dinner are not included as this is regarded as part of the “real life” challenge this study holiday encourages – we want our students to emerge from this experience more independent and knowledgeable and be able to handle everyday life in Britain. Based on previous experience, however, we estimate about £20 a day for meals, general souvenirs and personal necessities.

The groups, a maximum of 15 students per group, will be accompanied, supervised and monitored by an experienced teacher and an assistant who will be available 24 hours a day, they will travel and escort the group by public transport in London.

Summary of Main Attractions:

Entrance to the above attractions detailed in blue and underlined are included.

Total package cost is £ 2495.00 including return  airport transfers in London.
